Job Summary The Dental Equipment Maintenance and Repair Technician is responsible for the preventive maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of all dental equipment and related systems within the Lincoln Memorial University College of Dental Medicine (LMU-CDM). This role ensures that dental chairs, delivery systems, sterilizers, radiographic units, handpieces, and other specialized equipment are maintained in safe and optimal working condition to support patient care, clinical training, and research activities.
Key Responsibilities *Perform preventive maintenance, testing, and repair of dental and clinical equipment. *Calibrate and verify the performance of mechanical, electronic, and pneumatic systems. *Maintain accurate service logs, maintenance records, and calibration certificates. *Collaborate with faculty, staff, and vendors to ensure minimal equipment downtime. *Follow safety, infection control, and compliance standards.
Required Qualifications *Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in dental equipment repair or biomedical equipment maintenance. *Knowledge of dental/medical equipment systems, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and sterilization equipment. *Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics. *Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. *Effective communication skills to work with faculty, staff, students, and vendors. *Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs.) and work in clinical/lab environments.
Preferred Qualifications *Experience in an academic or dental school setting. *Familiarity with equipment from A-dec, Midmark, Dentsply, and Belmont. *Understanding of OSHA, CDC, and infection control regulations.
