JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Installs, maintains, and monitors one or more multi-platform operating systems, utilities, and related software to meet organizational needs.
- Supports the availability, integrity, and reliability of assigned systems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three years of operating systems analysis/administration experience OR a bachelor's degree and one year of operating systems analysis/administration experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with working in a Linux environment (particularly RedHat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, or Rocky Linux, but experience with any distribution is good) and using a command line interface for system management.
- Basic understanding of computer security principles and POSIX/UNIX/Linux file permissions.
- Can debug code/follow logic flow in at least one programming or scripting language (Bash, C++, Python, Java, etc.).
- Basic understanding of these network services: DNS, DHCP, NFS, TCP/IP, HTTPD (Apache or Nginx).
- Basic understanding of virtual machine concepts (hypervisors, resource allocation, etc.).
- Basic understanding of cloud services & configuration (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Basic understanding of enterprise calendar systems (Outlook, Google Calendar).
- Can troubleshoot problems & use good testing methodology to fix issues.
NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department of work. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
