Summary:

The Biomedical Equipment Technician 1 (BMET 1) provides clinical equipment maintenance and repair services and is an integral part of our strict Certified Pre-Owned Program.


It is expected that the qualified associate will:

  • Follow Centurion’s Policies & Procedures for the servicing and refurbishment of Certified Pre[1]owned (CPO) equipment
  • Adhere to OEM guidelines and recommended processes to troubleshoot, repair, and PM medical equipment as assigned
  • Check, verify, and document the medical device is not adulterated from OEM configuration(s)
  • Check, verify, and document recall status; remediate as needed
  • Check, verify, and document there is no PHI present on refurbished medical equipment
  • Inspect medical equipment for completeness, mechanical and electrical safety, and proper operation to OEM, or other, validated procedures and specifications
  • Perform planned/periodic/preventive/preventative maintenance (PM) and electrical safety inspections (ESI) per OEM specifications and CPO policies, procedures, and work instructions
  • Have technical expertise to refurbish and repair basic and advanced medical devices
  • Demonstrate a process-based ability to use applicable test equipment and tools, follow logical troubleshooting processes, and repair devices with optimal applied time and parts usage
  • Verify the completeness and accuracy of documentation and repair history for refurbishment recordkeeping purposes
  • Adhere to Centurion Quality Check (QC) controls and procedures
  • Assist other technicians with refurbishment and testing of medical equipment; provide leadership and guidance to refurbishing team, as assigned
  • Verify the inventory status for planning purposes and make procurement recommendations
  • Perform duties per company policies, procedures, and work instructions
  • Perform other duties as assigned; assignments may include leadership of a refurbishing team.



Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree in a technical/electronics field or equivalent military experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Three years’ experience of related biomedical technician experience as an in-house or 3rd party BMET, or as an OEM bio-medical field service engineer
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Valid driver’s license required; variable travel requirements depending on primary site that may require use of personal vehicle
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills



Preferred candidates:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical/electronics field
  • Certified Bio-Medical Technician (CBET) by AAMI
  • Five years of related bio-medical technical experience

It is expected that the qualified associate will:

  • Follow Centurion’s Policies & Procedures for the servicing and refurbishment of Certified Pre[1]owned (CPO) equipment
  • Adhere to OEM guidelines and recommended processes to troubleshoot, repair, and PM medical equipment as assigned
  • Check, verify, and document the medical device is not adulterated from OEM configuration(s)
  • Check, verify, and document recall status; remediate as needed
  • Check, verify, and document there is no PHI present on refurbished medical equipment
  • Inspect medical equipment for completeness, mechanical and electrical safety, and proper operation to OEM, or other, validated procedures and specifications
  • Perform planned/periodic/preventive/preventative maintenance (PM) and electrical safety inspections (ESI) per OEM specifications and CPO policies, procedures, and work instructions
  • Have advanced technical expertise to refurbish and repair complex medical devices, including life support systems
  • Evaluate potential devices for addition to the CPO product portfolio
  • Evaluate potential 3rd parties for utilization by CPO team (refurbished devices and/or parts); lead work relationship, planning, and fulfilment with 3rd party refurbishers as needed
  • Demonstrate a process-based ability to use applicable test equipment and tools, follow logical troubleshooting processes, and repair devices with optimal applied time and parts usage
  • Verify the completeness and accuracy of documentation and repair history for refurbishment recordkeeping purposes
  • Adhere to Centurion Quality Check (QC) controls and procedures
  • Assist other technicians with repairs, installations, and calibration of medical equipment; provide leadership and guidance to refurbishing team, as assigned
  • Verify spare parts inventory for planning purposes and make procurement recommendations; determine spare parts consumption rates and plan inventory of spare parts and materials; keep inventory lean to avoid aging parts and materials
  • Perform duties per company policies, procedures, and work instructions
  • Perform other duties as assigned



Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree in a technical/electronics field or equivalent military experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
