- Department Head - School of Biomedical and Chemical Engineering
Description
The Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering at Colorado State University is seeking a Department Head and Professor to lead the School of Biomedical and Chemical Engineering.
This individual will provide strategic vision, academic leadership, and administrative oversight for the School’s teaching, research, and service missions.
The individual will foster an inclusive and collaborative environment that promotes excellence in interdisciplinary research, high-quality education, and industry and community engagement. Responsibilities include faculty and staff development and hiring, student success initiatives, curriculum innovation, fiscal and operational management, and advancing the School’s national and international reputation.
The Department Head will work closely with university leadership, external partners, and alumni to strengthen research funding, expand graduate and undergraduate programs, and cultivate opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship. Candidates must have a distinguished record of scholarly achievement and demonstrated leadership.
The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date of July 1, 2026. The department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Requirements
Required Job Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Biomedical, Biological, and/or Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching appropriate for appointment as a tenured, full professor
Preferred Job Qualifications:
- Potential to effectively lead and evaluate the faculty and staff comprising the School
- Demonstrated ability to establish a well-funded research program and potential to play a leadership role in facilitating interdisciplinary research
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and ability to play a leadership role in facilitating educational innovation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to bring people together on new initiatives
